My favourite travel commercials

Some travel ads really make you want to leap up go to on holiday. Not that we can right now, of course.

What are your favourites over the years?

Here are some of mine, starting with this one for San Francisco... even though it was actually an advert for a TV set.

I think my absolute top of the list, though, is this amazing one for STA Travel......

This one for the Philipines certainly has a tune that gets stuck in your head...

Going retro, I'm (just about) old enough to remember this one for British Airways, when I was a kid and travelling really was an adventure...

And then came this one, when BA could (just about) still claim to be the world's favourite airline...

And over in the red corner...

This one always reminds me of travelling Down Under...

Meanwhile, I'm not totally sure this one would make me pack my bags for Russia but it's fun...

This got some stick at the time, but stuck in people's heads and isn't that the point?

And I like this one, not so much for the (actually fair lame) ad itself, but for its great tag line, which addresses people's perceptions of the country while saying "really, there's nothing to worry about."

Like me, this is an oldie but a goodie...
